Graphics Gallery - Photomontage

Welcome to my favorite division of 88 Dragon! Traditionally, Photomontage is the process (and result) of making a composite photograph by cutting and joining a number of other photographs. The composite picture is sometimes photographed so that the final image is converted back into a seamless photographic print. A similar method, although one that does not use film, is realized today through image-editing software.

A number of the pieces below were commissioned works. On a commissioned piece, the client will give me a rough idea of what types of images they want as well as what "feel" they want in a piece. I'll then go through all of my images to see what I may have, and decipher what I need to go out and shoot. Then, through gentle pushing and pulling, all the pieces are slowly morphed together into one creation. Every image below is composed of a minimum of three independent images. Some of the more complex, such as "Exploration", use over 7 original images and took well over 12 hours to create. "The Flower Pot" is one of my favorite creations. The original photos I shot at Hartwood Acres, in Pittsburgh, PA. Upon walking through the Park's grand mansion, I discovered this beautiful window and shot a series of photos looking out. In the finished Photomontage, the view out the window is actually the view looking from the yard back at the windows I originally shot out of.

Some of the Photomontages are a combination of computer generated art as well as my original photos... such as "Predator Revealed", "An American Story" and "The Forest Sea Horses".

All images below are limited editions of 20. Each edition has 10 - 11" x 14" and 10 - 16" x 20". Prices listed below are for prints only (backed with foam board for stability)
